Why Work With Me?

Giving up should never be an option. You might feel frustrated, lost, or angry and you probably feel a lot of things; negative emotions that are impacting your riding and permeating into other areas of your life.

You want to take back control and to reconnect with the rider you were before. To strengthen the relationship you have with the horse you love and respect.

I would like to help you, not as a temporary fix, but for sustained progress. And crucially, help you understand your world. I work with a variety of clients both on a short term basis and with some, as part of their day to day teams for the long term.

Most coaches in this line of work use a one-size-fits-all approach with their clients. I don't think this makes sense. Your experiences are unique and so are your needs.

My bespoke coaching sessions are tailored to your personal challenges and aspirations. They comprise of sports psychology, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and hypnosis techniques.

I love transforming the confidence, focus and results of riders who compete at every level of the sport. From RC and grassroots level to elite professionals, I believe in every rider I work with. Whether the problem is competition nerves, stress or anxiety, the combination of techniques I use are highly effective in helping the riders achieve the results they want.

My name is Helen Rennie; thank you for visiting my website.

Here you will learn about my passion for helping riders transform their confidence and focus at competition and in everyday riding so they can achieve their goals. The people I coach learn to:

●      Overcome their fears and strengthen their self-belief

●      Ride to the best of their ability at home and at competition

●      Get to that sweet spot where competing feels easy and fun

●      Achieve the results they work so hard for

What Led Me Here?

An awareness that your life can change in the blink of an eye and that you can lose the person that you were in a single moment.

Several years ago, a serious riding accident left me with an injured neck and shattered nerves. While my body healed, the psychological trauma lingered. I lost my confidence, and with it, my joy for riding.

Overcoming my fears was a long and hard journey, when truthfully, it didn’t have to be.

I spent eighteen months identifying what was effective and what wasn’t. That’s extra energy, time and money is what I don’t want you to waste.

My Qualifications

I’m a Master Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner, the highest level of qualification for NLP.

I was personally trained and licensed by the co-creator of NLP, Dr Richard Bandler. Through his top trainers who have worked with national equestrian teams in the USA and Italy, I learnt how to apply NLP techniques to the sport, for both everyday riding and competition situations across Eventing, Dressage and Showjumping.

I’m also an NLP Sports Master Practitioner, having trained with one of the UK’s top Mental Performance Coaches, Andy Barton.

I have a Sports Psychology Diploma (Distinction) and a Sports Hypnosis Diploma, in addition to a degree in Human Sciences from University of Oxford.

In 2015, my book ‘Transform Pressure To Power’ was published, which focuses on eight mindset strategies to achieve Eventing success. Over 1,000 copies have been sold since, and it’s been featured in Horse & Hound online, Your Horse magazine and was named Book of the Month by Horse magazine.

Rider: Amy, Eventing Horse: Breeze, TB Mare 15.2hh 8yo Background: Amy has owned Breeze for 1.5 years and has ridden her for 2 years. She started riding Breeze as a 5 year old. Breeze hadn’t done much so Amy was keen to produce her. Session Type: Phone Goals: Amy wanted help to deal with pressure at competitions. She was finding it particularly difficult to focus in the dressage phase. She enjoys eventing and wanted to step up the levels from BE80 to BE100. How Helen Helped: Helen gave Amy mindset strategies to help her remember her dressage test by adjusting her focus and reduce her anxiety in the warm-up and test. Results: Following her session with Helen, Amy was placed in every single competition for 3 months over the winter, which gave her a strong foundation for starting the 2016 season. What Amy said: “Helen gave me some great mindset strategies to help me focus before I compete. Since speaking to Helen I have been placed at every competition in the last 3 months! I have had some of my best results so far including a 4th, 7th and 11th place at one day events plus a 1st and 4th place at a dressage competition! I cannot thank Helen enough for helping me find ways to deal with pressure!” Amy has recently finished 4th in a BE80 and is determined to complete a BE90 and eventually step up to BE100.
